About the artist
Born in Florence, Botticelli trained under Fra Filippo Lippi, whose influence is evident in his early works. He developed a distinct style characterized by flowing lines, ethereal figures, and an emphasis on emotion and beauty. Botticelli’s patrons included the powerful Medici family, who supported his mythological and allegorical paintings. His later years were marked by a shift toward religious themes, influenced by the sermons of Girolamo Savonarola.
